Maatraan is an upcoming Tamil action film to be directed and co-written by K. V. Anand and scripted by writers Subha. It stars Suriya in the lead role, portraying five different characters, with Kajal Aggarwal playing the female lead and music by Harris Jayaraj. The film, to be produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, is currently in its pre-production stage and slated for release in April 2012.During the post-production stage of Ko, K. V. Anand announced that he would team up again for a project with Suriya after the success of Ayan that would be produced by AGS Entertainment and would commence once Suriya finished shooting for A. R. Murugadoss' sci-fi thriller 7aam Arivu. Several actresses were considered including Taapsee Pannu, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Sharma with Kajal Aggarwal eventually grabbing the role. The film's shooting was postponed before commencing due to Suriya's brother Karthi's wedding on July 3. It was officially launched on July 22, 2011 in Chennai.
